Nassau County is considering a proposal to erect electronic billboards -- some as wide as 48 feet -- along the Long Island Expressway and near Roosevelt Field mall in an effort to replace some of the $30 million in projected revenue lost when school-zone speed cameras were killed.
Proponents believe that this plan will generate revenue for the County.
Opponents state that these signs will not only be an eye sore but the light which emanates from the signage will disturb many residents whose homes line or are adjacent to the LIE and Meadowbrook corridors.
CoNCA will continue to look into this issue and update as appropriate.
